After each lecture there is a mini bonus quiz about the lecture taken during class—there are 12 throughout the semester. These quizzes will consist of 3 general questions about the lecture (so pay attention!).
If the class quiz average is above a 70, I’ll put ½ a point into the class “Bonus Bank”. These points will be added to your final exam grade—a max of 6 points is possible which equals adding 1.5 points to your overall final course grade.
What if I miss questions on the quiz?! Missing questions on these quizzes won’t hurt your grade since they are a bonus, but it will lower the class average (need above a 70) which may mean no ½ point added to the Bank that week.
What if I skip the quiz/just don’t take it? Then you don’t earn the ¾ point toward your participation grade. This is a did it/didn’t do it type of assignment. It won’t be factored into the class’ average either…so you’re not impacting your classmates’ chance at bonus points, just your own participation grade.
The Bonus Quiz is timed—you’ll have 5 minutes—and it must be completed during class—availability will end during class at a specified time with answers revealed.
