This activity helps students distinguish between and analyze the U.S. Official and Supplemental Poverty Measures. As a group students will determine an annual food budget, for a fictitious family, and compare this to current federal poverty guidelines. Students will describe the benefits cliff and discuss the systemic inequalities and economic challenges facing people in society.
